Instructor

Lauren Dwyer, PsyD, NCSP

Dr. Dwyer has worked with children and their families for over 25 years in various capacities. She was previously employed in home based ABA therapy, a school based community mental health clinic, counseling center, District 75 self-contained classrooms and a New York State special acts school. Dr. Dwyer has extensive experience conducting school based evaluations for children, aged 24 months to 24 years. She is well versed in the identification of developmental disorders, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Speech and Language Disorders, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia and Specific Learning Disorders. Dr. Dwyer also conducts neuropsychological evaluations for eligibility for special education services and services through OPWDD. She spent many years working with twice exceptional students and students with emotional and behavioral dysfunction. Dr. Dwyer also assessed many high performing and gifted students for entrance into independent schools through Prep for Prep and ERB. In her tenure as a school psychologist, Dr. Dwyer has been tasked with facilitating educational and behavioral response to intervention through a multi-tiered support system, consulting with teachers, providing parent training, developing functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans, and providing crisis intervention and crisis response. She also served as a contingency chairperson of 504, CPSE and CSE meetings. She enjoys collaborating with families to develop appropriate and effective interventions that help individuals reach their full potential. Dr. Lauren Dwyer is a New York State Licensed Psychologist, Nationally Certified School Psychologist, and New York State Certified School Psychologist. She earned her doctorate in School-Community Psychology from Hofstra University and a Specialty in Clinical Neuropsychology from Fielding Graduate University. Dr. Dwyer also holds a Masters Degree in Forensic Psychology from CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Manhattan College.
